velocity

Every morning I stand at the corner and watch bicycles and buses pass , and I often think about how the velocity of different vehicles changes on this street . Traffic has been moving more slowly since the new lights were installed , so pedestrians have more time to cross . If I lived closer to work , I would walk instead of taking the bus , but at the moment the timetable suits me better . Despite the crowd , drivers are usually patient here and the street feels safe for families . Occasionally a fast cyclist rides by and their higher velocity is noticed by other riders , so people slow down a little .
