bat

I was walking home along the river when I saw a small bat fly past and disappear into the trees . At first I thought it might be a bird , but the way it turned quickly and hunted insects showed it was a bat . I stood still and listened , and although I couldn't hear the echolocation , I could tell the animal was navigating in the dark . Local people say these animals are important because they eat mosquitoes and help keep the area calm . If we left the hedges alone and avoided bright lights at dusk , more bats would feel safe to visit the park .
